Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ssvecyouthprograms@ssvec.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Microgrants will be awarded UP TO $999 for classroom projects which enhance educational instruction, programs, or classroom amenities.

YES!  Generate your grant proposal in 10 minutes!

Copy/paste this phrase into ChatGPT or even your internet browser and fill in the blanks for your project before hitting "Enter":

Draft a 600 word grant proposal for a  _____grade level project for  $_____ dollars. The project is for a _____________________________ project. Include Main Goal and overall description + budget breakdown.     Once ChatGPT creates your beautiful grant proposal, read through it, tweak it to your liking, and copy/paste it into your application.  Boom! You are done in about 5-10 minutes.

Don’t use frilly titles.  Say exactly what the project is such as “Greenhouse Project” “Reading Project” “Fun Math with Fractions” “Classroom furniture upgrade with height adjustable desks” “Electronic Whiteboard Upgrade” “Innovative robotics project using small scale robotic cars” “Teaching About Solar Energy using a small scale solar panel”, etc.  Then put that into Ai. Chances are you'll get a better result with no frills.

Use Ai or Chat GPT!  Type this directly into your browser or use ChatGPT

Although you may submit your application anytime before the deadline, we will not start reviewing applications until mid-August through September 1st. Checks will be cut within 2 weeks of when they are reviewed.  Checks will be mailed directly to you at the address you provided.

Teacher Microgrants can be rejected for a variety of reasons. However, the four most common reasons for rejection are:

1. The teacher does not teach within the SSVEC service area.

2. The budget sheet total does not match the amount of money asked for in the proposal.

3. The amount requested is over the specified limit ($999 in 2026)

4. The proposal does not support an educational goal.

Ask your principal or district office if pays its electric bill to Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative.  If they do, then it is within our service area.  In general, this will encompass the towns of Benson, Bowie, Bonita, Cochise, Double Adobe, Elfrida, Elgin, Hereford, McNeal, Pearce, San Simon, Sierra Vista, Tombstone, Portal, and Willcox.

The SSVEC Foundation wants to support creative teachers and be flexible with the needs of students.  Educational initiatives could be any program supporting core curriculum, STEM programs, extracurricular activities such as drama programs, art, music, and even sports. Funding can be used not only for program supplies, but for theater & museum entry tickets, or even continuing education classes for teachers.

Keep it simple.  More words does not mean it is a better proposal.  Use a simple structure, eliminate fancy fonts.  Use black, consistently sized font.  Most importantly, be concise and precise in your word choice. Photos of supplies are not encouraged unless it is an item that the average person would not be familiar with.

See instructions just below the Microgrant Application Button on this web page.

Microgrant recipients are required to submit a photo or two of their completed project or activities. We no longer require receipts to be submitted.  Please do not include children's faces in the photo(s).  You may email the photos to foundationgrants@ssvec.com  Please include your name and school in the email.

Teachers are the stewards of these projects, not the owners.  Although issued in the teacher's name, grant funds are to be used for the benefit of that classroom and/or school in which the project was allocated.  Teachers are required to leave all project materials and supplies with the school if employment is severed for any reason.

Small changes sometimes happen in price or product availability.  Maybe you even found a product that is better suited for the needs of your project.  That's ok!  Our grants are designed to give you a little flexibility.  However, if the project changes significantly in scope or cost, please consult with us before proceeding.  For example, if the project was funded for a reading program, and now you want to use it for a cooking program, that is a significant change.

Click on the button near the top of this web page. The button will take you to the application.

We must receive your proposal by September 15, 2026 by 11:59 PM

The application is digital and it will come to us directly.  Please don't forget to hit "Submit" on the digital application.  You should receive an automated confirmation by email that your application has been submitted.  We will review applications starting in August.  The Deadline is September 15th.
